BCAT 2025

Brooklyn’s biggest ceramics celebration of the year

The Brooklyn Ceramic Arts Tour

May 29 - June 01

What’s BCAT?

BCAT is a weekend long celebration of all things clay! It will comprise of local artists, studios, galleries, and businesses across the borough, opening their doors to the public for a variety of exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, artist talks, and ceramic sales.

Inspired by the success of the 2017 and 2018 Brooklyn Clay Tour, BCAT’s mission is to promote Brooklyn as a diverse and growing ceramics community, one where everyone is welcomed to learn about clay, experience it first-hand, and support the ceramic arts.

Following our successful launch in 2023 and return in 2024, BCAT 2025 will continue to honor the ceramic arts, while evolving and growing with Brooklyn, and the artists that live and work here.

BE A PART OF BCAT

Participate as a Group Studio

Participation in Brooklyn’s ceramic studios is vital to BCAT’s success. We hope your studio will consider opening up its space to the community, and organizing exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, artist talks, and/or sales.

As part of an established tour, this is a fantastic opportunity to introduce/reintroduce your studio to the neighborhood and promote classes, rentals, workshops, future exhibitions, birthday parties, etc.

  • BCAT organizers will work with each group to create unique and rewarding experiences for visitors and artists alike.

  • Events must have a minimum of 3 Brooklyn based artists working primarily in clay. Beyond the minimum of 3 artists, groups are encouraged to invite other (clay/non- clay) artists, designers, makers, vendors, musicians, dancers, etc. to participate in their exhibitions or sales.

  • Studios will be asked to contribute a small participation fee of $100 (per studio) to cover promotional materials.

Participate as an Independent Artist

Are you an independent ceramic artist or mixed media artist who works in clay? Here’s your chance to be an integral part of BCAT. Along with participating ceramic studios and art centers, we are looking for out-of-the-box thinkers who are up to the challenge/adventure of organizing their own BCAT exhibition, demonstration, workshop, artist talk, etc.

Host a sale in your community garden, set up demonstrations at your local bookstore, lead a healing-through-clay workshop at your best friend’s yoga studio, host a “pot” luck fundraiser for your favorite non-profit, or install an exhibit of at your favorite coffee shop. The borough is your oyster!

  • Individuals organizing events will be asked to contribute a small participation fee of $100 (per group) promotional materials.

Participate as a Local Business Host

We are looking for local businesses (bookstores, coffee shops, plant stores, bakeries, clothing stores, bodegas, etc.) that would be interested in hosting a BCAT event: art exhibition, artist talk, pottery sale or panel discussion, etc. or if you are a business that sells local ceramic artist’s work, you could be included in the tour by spotlighting your artists during our BCAT weekend.

As a BCAT local business host you’ll be an official part of the tour, and your business name and info will be listed on our website, social media, and all BCAT promotional materials.

  • BCAT organizers will work with each group to create unique and rewarding experiences for visitors and artists alike.

  • Hosted events/artist “spotlights” must have a minimum of 3 Brooklyn based artists working primarily in clay. Other clay/non- clay artists, designers, makers, vendors, etc. may participate.
